This article discusses how to edit the content of a fill in the blanks item in Scorpion. If you need help creating items or need more information on item please see Creating Items (Exam Questions) in Scorpion.
Fill in the blanks items consist of three segments that you use to create the item. There are three possible segments; content segments, select field and short answer field. Below there are descriptions of the segment types, examples of the examinee view and details on how to edit the segment.

Content Segments
Content segments are the static elements that are presented to the examinee.
How to Edit Content Segments
1- To add content segments click on the Add Content Segment button.
2- Type in the Content field.
3- Make sure to save your changes.
Select Field
Select fields are drop down menus that give the examinee to choose the correct option.
How to Edit Select Fields
1- To add select field segments click on the Add Select Field button.
2- Type in your options into the text field then hit the Enter key.
3- The field that are highlighted in green are the correct responses. To deselect correct responses click on the box with the text to make the field white. This will make that option an incorrect response.
4- Make sure to save your changes.
Short Answer Field
Short answer fields are text field that the examinee can type in.
How to Edit Short Answer Fields
1- To add short answer field segments click on the Add Short Answer Field button.
2- Type in your options into the text field then hit the Enter key.
3- The field that are highlighted in green are the correct responses. To deselect correct responses click on the box with the text to make the field white. This will make that option an incorrect response.
4- Use the drop down menu under Method to change how the examinees response will be judged.
5- Make sure to save your changes.
