This step-by-step guide will assist you in setting up your Windows 11 computer so that it can be used with Caveon Observer with Screen Sharing, Web Camera, and Microphone Access.
System Level Permissions
- Press the Windows Key + I to open settings

Click on Privacy & Security located on the left side of the Settings Applet
- Scroll through the list until you see Camera

Ensure that "Camera access" is turned on and "Let Desktop apps access your Camera" is toggled to on, and that Edge is listed as an option
- Click on Privacy & Security again and repeat for the Microphone, again ensuring that "Microphone access" is turned on and "Let Desktop apps access your Microphone" is toggled to on, and that Edge is listed as an option
Primary Method of granting access in Edge
Note that you should ensure that your system level permissions are set correctly as described earlier before attempting to complete these steps.
- Launch your Observation link
- On the right hand of your URL bar look for an icon that looks like this
- Click on Allow when accessing this site for Camera, Microphone and screen sharing. (Be sure to choose to share ALL screens.

Scroll Down to Apps tap on it
If you are not prompted to grant access or accidentally clicked block\deny
Note that you should ensure that your system level permissions are set correctly as described earlier before attempting to complete these steps.

Within Edge while on your Observation setup screen in Edge click on the 3 side by side dots located on the top right hand side of your screen.
- Click on Settings

Click on Privacy, Search and Services

Click on Site permissions

Click on All Permissions
- Click on Camera

Ensure that the correct camera is selected and that ask before accessing is turned on. Ensure that Observer.caveon.com is not listed in the "Not Allowed to use your Camera"
- Click on the Left pointing Arrow next to Camera, and then repeat the process but this time clicking on the Microphone.

Finally, click the Left pointing arrow and select "Pop-ups and redirects"

And under Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects, click add site and enter https://observer.caveon.com then https://scorpion.caveon.com
- Close out settings and refresh your Observer page.
Wrong Camera Appearing Troubleshooting
If once you share your camera, it is not selecting the one that is facing you, in Edge open up a new tab, and copy edge://settings/content/camera into the URL bar, click on the drop down where your camera is and select the correct camera.
Additional Troubleshooting
- Ensure that your browser is up-to-date by going to Settings\Help and Feedback\About Microsoft Edge and choosing check for updates
- Ensure that you are running Windows 11, and not an unsupported version of Windows (10, 7, Vista, XP)
- Ensure that Windows is Activated https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/activate-windows-c39005d4-95ee-b91e-b399-2820fda32227
- If your device is managed by corporate policies, (Active Directory Group Policies, InTune, or other corporate managed solutions), ask your administrator to allow access for the site or use a different unmanaged device.
