This step-by-step guide will assist you in setting up your macOS 26 or 15 computer so that it can be used with Caveon Observer with Screen Sharing, Web Camera, and Microphone Access.
System Level Permissions
- Click on the Apple Menu, and choose System Settings

Click on Privacy & Security located on the left side of the Settings Applet
- Scroll through the list until you see Camera and click on it

Ensure that Chrome has been "turned on" for Camera Access
- Click the back button < next to Camera and locate Microphone.
- Repeat step 4 for the microphone.
- Close system Settings.
Primary Method of granting access in Chrome
Note that you should ensure that your system level permissions are set correctly as described earlier before attempting to complete these steps.
- Launch your Observation link
- Click on Enable Webcam

If prompted, look for and click on an icon that looks like this on the right hand of your URL bar look for an icon that looks like this
- Click on Allow when accessing this site for Camera, Microphone and screen sharing. (Be sure to choose to share ALL screens.
- Scroll Down to Apps tap on it
Screen Sharing
- Launch your Observation link
- Click on Enable Screenshare

From the Tab/Window/Screen selection pop-up click on Entire Screen and select your screen from the option listed below and click Share. (Note: if you have multiple screens attached but your exam does not permit multiple screens, then you will need to disconnect the screens close out of this prompt and re-launch it.)
If you are not prompted to grant access or accidentally clicked block\deny

Within Chrome while on your Observation setup screen in Chrome click on the 3 stacked dots located on the top right hand side of your screen.
- Click on Settings

Click on Privacy and Security

Tap on Site settings

Scroll down to the permissions section and click on Camera

At the top ensure your correct camera is selected, and that the radio button "Sites can ask to use your camera" is selected, and that Observer.caveon.com is not listed in the "Not allowed to use your Camera" section.
- Click on the Left pointing Arrow next to Camera, and then repeat the process but this time clicking on the Microphone.

Finally locate under content "Pop-ups and redirects"

And under Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects, click add and enter https://observer.caveon.com
- Close out settings and refresh your Observer page.
Wrong Camera Appearing Troubleshooting
If once you share your camera, it is not selecting the one that is facing you, in chrome open up a new tab, and copy chrome://settings/content/camera into the URL bar, click on the drop down where your camera is and select the correct camera.
Additional Troubleshooting
- Ensure that your browser is up-to-date by going to Settings\Help\About Google Chrome and choosing check for updates
- Ensure that you are running macOS 26 or 15 with the latest security updates
- If your device is managed by corporate policies, (InTune, JAMF, or other corporate MDM managed solutions), ask your administrator to allow access for the site or use a different unmanaged device.
