Computer programs/ applications sometimes develop issues and start to not work properly. For example, I would download Microsoft Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) from the internet and I would get an error message saying I could not open these files. Repairing the Microsoft Office program fixed this issue. This article will show you how to repair programs/ applications on Windows. NOTE: Save and close everything before completing these steps.
1- Click on the start button on the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
2- Click on settings/ gear icon.
You will then see the following window:
3- Click on Apps
You will see the window change to look like this:
4- Scroll down to the program/ application. Click on the Program’s/ Application’s icon.
5- Click on Modify.
6- Click the Yes button.
7- Make sure Quick repair is selected and click the Repair button.
8- Click the Repair button.
9- If you have the application open, you will be prompted save your work and to shut the application down. Click the Continue button.
You will see the following screen. It may take a few minutes:
10- Click the Close button. At this point check the application, if you are still experiencing issues, follow steps 1-6 then go to step 11.
11- To complete this step, you will need to have more time and a internet connection. It could take up to an hour or more. Click on the Online Repair option. Then click the Repair button.
12- Click the Repair button.
13- This window prompts you to save and close everything. Press the Continue button.
14- You will then have to wait. You will see this screen:
You will eventually see this screen:
You have now completed the repair.
